Bio
Becky Becky are electro-synth-pop duo Gemma L Williams (Woodpecker Wooliams / Ghostpoet / Button Eyes) and Peter J D Mason (JØTA / Cloud / ex-Fence Collective). They met in 2011 and recorded and self-released one single, The Harder Stuff, detailing an angry woman’s self-destructive chemical-fuelled revenge on a former partner.

During the recording of The Harder Stuff, they became lovers and moved in together. Their intense and tumultuous relationship put a halt to further Becky Becky recordings, though Gemma found great critical acclaim with her solo-project Woodpecker Wooliams and her debut album The Bird School of Being Human. She also recorded with featured on Ghostpoet's hit single Meltdown and various Button Eyes singles. Peter, meanwhile, focused on remixing a variety of artists such as The Pictish Trail, Kid Canaveral, Soccer96 and many more.
Eventually their personal relationship broke down and Peter left the UK for mainland Europe with no real intention of returning. Gemma, meanwhile, toured the UK as Woodpecker Wooliams. However, whilst travelling through Sweden, Peter couldn’t shake the idea of making an album based on the ‘20s and ‘30s novels of Jean Rhys, a project he and Gemma had always intended to create together. Getting in touch with one another again, they agreed to put their differences aside to work on this project that had always been dear to their hearts. Peter settled in Prague while Gemma remained in the UK and writing began.

The album Good Morning, Midnight took shape and Peter flew to the UK for one week to record together with Gemma. The recording sessions were stressful and often ended in screaming fights, but once the week was up, they had a sketch of the final album. Peter then retreated to a chateau on a mountain in the tiny Alpine village of Seythenex, France to finish the recording and mixing.
Once the album was complete, a release date was scheduled for May 2014 and Peter returned to the UK to reunite with Gemma for a series of acclaimed yet highly tense audio-visual shows, testing the new material and their new working-relationship in a live environment.

Becky Becky formed their own independent DIY label, FEINT, in order to release their material. A single, Fire & Wings, was released shortly before the full album Good Morning, Midnight. It received critical acclaim Becky Becky took their live show to a few select gigs round the UK.
Following the album’s release, they released a further single, House Of The Black Madonna and also recorded and released a live album and a live radio session for the late, great Ally Gourlay’s show Art School Dancing. At the end of the year, they released a short Christmas EP, Champagne On Christmas Day, detailing a backstreet abortion in '20s Paris at Christmastime.
